Setting it Straight, Once and for All

Now, a lot of idiot Newgrounds users (redundant statement, I know) have been constantly bitching at me something along these lines:

______________________________________

"PUT YOUR SHITTY VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE, FAGGOT"

______________________________________
________________________

Well, now I'm going to stop dealing with these individual complaints and solve the problem entirely.

I CANNOT PUT MY VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE BECAUSE:

a) They are developed with the Flash authoring system, which exports to .SWF.

b) YouTube does not accept .SWF files, because YouTube uses it's own Flash player.

Now, you may say that my Flashes are not Flash-y and are more like videos, and I should just take the raw video files and upload them to YouTube.

HERE IS THE PROBLEM WITH THAT:

All of my videos take advantage of Flash capabilities that I otherwise wouldn't be able to implement.

Imagine Let's Have a Party without the never-ending loop and website link that doesn't work. Horrible, isn't it? For those two things are what made LHAP an enduring, immortal, beloved classic of this website we will continue to enjoy for generations to come. On YouTube, it would simply be a non-looping, non-blatant-advertising TRAVESTY.

Imagine *UNTITLED* without the cinematic paused ending, complete with bold red subtitles for emphasis. On YouTube it would destroy the climax and pop up a fancy menu linking to related videos. DISASTROUS! Also, *UNTITLED* was specifically designed and directed at Newgrounds audiences, like all my videos, so having it on YouTube would lose all of it's illustrious appeal. We don't want that, now, DO WE?

And Freezepop's JEM! is already on YouTube, yes, it's horrible, you can clearly see how much lower quality it is. The ending credits don't look right as well, the censors are in the WRONG PLACES!

Well anyways I'm done writing so why don't you all find something else to bitch about.

Oh yeah.

WHY DO YOU HAVE FRONT PAGE?

Comments

This site is to showcase your artisitic skill in Flashanimation and music. You have none of the above and I'm sure your movie will be blammed.

Hmm...

That doesn't make sense because the next Flash I'm making has plenty of skillful Flash animation by yours truly ROTOSCOPED over live action video and a very unique song.

Maybe you're just another idiot Newgrounds user (redundancy again, I know) who didn't READ ANY OF THE TIMES I POSTED ABOUT MY NEXT FLASH.

PUT YOUR SHITTY VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE, FAGGOT

That sounds awfully familiar...

So eeeh...

Good luck with it.

Yeah.

I feel luckier already.

you are a genius. WHEN DOES THE NEW JEM COME OUT?

Eventually.

This film is actually comprised of three earlier featurettes ("Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree", "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day", "Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Too"), the first three of the four Disney efforts at filming the world of Winnie The Pooh which (the fourth was "A Day for Eyeore") that were closely based on specific A.A. Milne stories, and were excellently done. Despite not being drawn the way E. H. Sheppard originally illustrated them (which is, perhaps a loss), the characters are played with great respect for the way they were written. They have been Americanized in their speech, and they don't rely so much on the British comedy of manners that Milne mined so successfully, but they are quite solidly the same "people" they were in the books. Sterling Holloway is a marvelous Pooh whose his furry voice seems to convey both his outer softness and his mental fuzziness. Paul Winchell's Tigger is probably an improvement of the original, simply because words alone could never really convey Tigger's manic exuberance the way Winchell's performance does. Ralph Wright's Eyeore is a delight, and the other characters hold their own and uphold their tradition completely.

The one completely un-Milne touch that has been added seems to me entirely acceptable, too. This is the occasional presence, in the story, of the Narrator, whose intervention helps move the characters through some of the more difficult moments. It is a touch of gentleness that is not cloying at all, and is occasionally rather witty.

These stories are genuinely wholesome without being sticky. If you want to feed your kids entertainment that's truly funny, has decent human values, is completely free of potty jokes, and will stand up for 6-year-olds yet won't scare three-year-olds, it doesn't get much better than this.

Oh god.

No.

you actually have good points. WOW

I KNOW IT'S AMAZING, RITE?

A. YouTube does NOT own it's "own Flash Player". They made a Flash Player using Flash. When you upload a video it is turned into a Flash Video (.FLV I believe) and just "links" it to the Flash Player. At least that's what it seems like, and it makes sense.

No.

A video uploaded to YouTube is converted into Flash.

You cannot convert Flash into Flash for YouTube purposes, because Flash is standalone and cannot easily (as they'd want it) be incorporated into another Flash.

To see this, right click a video in YouTube. It says "About Adobe Flash Player 9". Wow.

Or, try uploading a .SWF to YouTube. Nope, can't do it.

Oh, and if you want your vid on youTube but you also want to keep the code and whatnot, just use CamStudio to capture what is on the screen. Then export and upload. Not hard (and CamStudio is free)

You cannot keep a video's code when uploading to YouTube.

Have you ever seen an interactive YouTube movie? One that infinitely loops? One that dramatically pauses? One that has a hyperlink that doesn't work?

NO!

I bet it doesn't have French pop, so off with you!

____Y____

( . Y . )

Wurmy, the whole point of his flash videos/movies is that they loop seamlessly... if it stopped looping itd be pointless... more so than usual anyway.

Only LHAP loops seamlessly. Freezepop's JEM! just repeats, and *UNTITLED* flat-out stops.

"Now, a lot of idiot Newgrounds users (redundant statement, I know)"

So, you have two choices.

1.) Stay here and fall into that category of "idiots". (Sadly newgrounds has more quality then you will ever even comprehend.)

2.) Leave. Just GTFO. (This is the preferable choice.)

Have a good day.

LOOOOOOOOOOL

Where is the "quality that I will never even comprehend"?

i always lol'd at the people sqealing about you on frontpage, because anyone with an ounce of knowledge about how this site works would know that Tom probably put it there and that that means it's not getting DELTED FUK U any time soon.

that aside, let's have a party is a travesty anyway

Let's Have a Party is only a travesty if you can't HANDLE it.

I'm shocked your JEM video wasn't used in a YouTube Poop

Well, it IS on YouTube (not by my willing)...

don't put your videos on newgrounds.... put Animations or Games on newgrounds. Then people will hate you less. Just a suggestion.

I put Flash on Newgrounds.

Not videos, not animations, not games...

Flash.

Luis, well yeah I get it but I'm just saying that he is wrong it is possible to upload your flash movies to youtube although it still wont have the same effect

EXACTLY.

It would lose ALL its effect!

well im fine with his videos. everything by everyone... doesnt mean you have to necessarily watch the everything...

Now THERE'S a good way of looking at it.

We want it on youtube because:
- Its live action video, thats youtubes thing.
- Its crap. Seriously nobody likes your stuff kid.
- We DONT like you.

The truth is you should stop making vids PERIOD. we say "take it to youtube" because we'd rather dump you onto their community.

Its obvious you dont get enough or any attention from your parents or peers (because i doubt you have friends) and so you act out and make crappy videos so people will pay attention to you, even if its negative attention.

Do us all a favor and just leave the internet.

I'm going to skip reading that mess and criticize the last line:

"Do us all a favor and just leave the internet."

This is an obviously idiotic statement by someone who believes Newgrounds IS the whole internet.

If I ever leave Newgrounds, it sure as hell is that I'm tired of idiots like you and I'm retiring to a better place on the Internet, NOT that I'm leaving it entirely.

I will never leave.

It still loses the effects if put on YouTube, idiot.

Ahhh dont give me this bullshit there are lots of converters, plus if it fails on youtube that means you fail. end of story

IT STILL LOSES THE EFFECTS IF PUT ON YOUTUBE, IDIOT.
